OTTAWA, Ontario (Aug. 21, 2026) - Despite home runs from Kyle Booker and Kevin Brown, the Mississippi Mud Monsters (34-53) were unable to overcome 11 runs from the Ottawa Titans (50-37) in an 11-3 loss in game four Friday evening.

Monster Notes

The final score belonged to Ottawa. The moment of the night belonged to Kevin Brown.

  • Kevin Brown recorded his first professional hit with a two-run home run in the ninth inning.
  • Kyle Booker hit his ninth home run of the season and second of the Ottawa series.
  • Karell Paz finished 2-for-4 and stole his seventh base of the season.
  • Tevis Payne II threw out another attempted base stealer.
  • Dallas Woolfolk and Jase Schueller each worked a scoreless inning out of the Mississippi bullpen.

Ottawa Strikes First

The Titans scored twice in the opening inning against Julian Minaya.

After being retired in order by Ottawa starter Eric Pardinho, the Mud Monsters sent right-hander Julian Minaya to the hill hoping to carry the momentum from Thursday’s first win in Canada into a second consecutive victory.

Minaya allowed the first two Ottawa batters to reach after Jackie Urbaez led off with a single before Jake Steels was hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard.

Minaya picked up the first two outs on a flyout and a strikeout of AJ Wright, but Rainer Nuñez, making his Titans debut, blooped a ball into right field that Trey Bridges made a diving attempt on but could not corral. Urbaez and Steels came around to score, opening the scoring with a 2-0 Ottawa lead.

With one out in the top of the second, Karell Paz singled for Mississippi’s first hit and stole second, but the Mud Monsters stranded him there and the game remained 2-0.

In the bottom of the second, Hunter Stokely reached on a bunt single, but Ottawa stranded him as Minaya tossed his first scoreless frame of the evening.

Titans Build the Lead

Ottawa pushed four runs across in the third.

Pardinho sat down the Mud Monsters in order in the top of the third before Ottawa extended its advantage in the bottom half.

Steels connected on a solo home run to lead off the inning, making it 3-0.

Following the home run, Minaya issued a walk to Myles Smith before AJ Wright singled to put two baserunners aboard.

Nuñez then singled home Smith to make it 4-0 Ottawa.

A walk to Taylor Wright loaded the bases with no outs before Stokely lifted a sacrifice fly that recorded the first out while plating another run to extend the deficit to 5-0.

Minaya struck out Caleb Burr for out number two and worked a 2-2 count against Michael Fuhrman before uncorking a wild pitch that allowed Nuñez to cross and make it a 6-0 ballgame.

Minaya came back to strike out Fuhrman for the final out of the frame.

Booker Goes Deep Again

His second home run of the series put Mississippi on the board.

Booker got the Mud Monsters on the board by leading off the top of the fourth with his second solo home run of the series, cutting Ottawa’s advantage to 6-1.

Fritz followed by drawing a walk and stealing second, but Pardinho pitched his way out of the inning having allowed only the lone run.

With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Steels reached on an error by Slater Schield.

Minaya followed by striking out Smith for his fifth strikeout of the evening before Payne II threw out Steels attempting to steal second to end the inning.

Ottawa Pulls Away

A Stokely homer and a three-run sixth stretched the Titans’ lead.

After Pardinho sat down the Mud Monsters 1-2-3 in the top of the fifth, Ottawa continued to find offensive success against Minaya in the bottom half.

With two outs, Stokely connected on a two-run home run to push the Titans’ advantage to seven runs at 8-1.

In the top of the sixth, the Titans turned to their bullpen, replacing Pardinho with right-hander Kevin Miranda.

Skinner singled to lead off the inning before Holt notched a two-out base hit to join him on the basepaths.

Despite putting two runners aboard, Mississippi was held scoreless and Ottawa maintained its 8-1 advantage.

Braden Forsyth took the ball for Mississippi in the bottom of the sixth, ending Minaya’s evening.

Minaya finished his start going 5.0 innings while allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five.

Ottawa loaded the bases with no outs after Fuhrman singled, Urbaez was hit by a pitch and Steels reached on an infield single.

Forsyth picked up the first out on an infield popup before issuing a bases-loaded walk to AJ Wright to push Ottawa’s advantage to 9-1.

An RBI groundout by Nuñez followed as the Titans reached double digits in the run column.

Taylor Wright then dribbled a ground ball to the left side that allowed him to reach first while another run crossed, making it 11-1 Titans.

The Bullpen Settles In

Woolfolk and Schueller kept Ottawa scoreless over the final two innings.

Dallas Woolfolk took over for Forsyth in the bottom of the seventh and tossed the first 1-2-3 inning for a Mississippi pitcher on the evening.

In the top of the eighth, the Mud Monsters were retired in order for the second consecutive inning and fifth time on the evening.

Jase Schueller got the ball for the bottom of the eighth and, after picking up the first out on a strikeout, allowed two runners to reach on singles.

The rookie right-hander pitched his way out of the traffic to post a second consecutive scoreless inning for the Mississippi bullpen.

And Then Kevin Brown Happened

Emergency catcher. Catching coordinator. First professional hit. Gone.

After posting two scoreless innings in the seventh and eighth, Miranda remained on the mound to close things out in the ninth.

The right-hander picked up the first two outs before Paz collected his second hit of the evening to reach first.

Brown, who entered as a defensive replacement for Payne II in the bottom of the seventh, then stepped to the plate.

Hitless through the first five at-bats of his professional career and primarily serving as Mississippi’s catching coordinator, Brown took the second offering he saw from Miranda and drove it deep into the Ottawa night and over the left-field wall for a two-run home run.

Brown’s first professional hit was a home run.

The blast cut Ottawa’s advantage to 11-3 before Miranda regrouped to record the final out and close out the Titans’ game-four victory.
