PEARL, Miss. (Aug. 4, 2026) - The Mississippi Mud Monsters have announced the acquisition of former Mississippi State Bulldog Amani Larry in a trade with the Tri-City ValleyCats for a player to be named later.

Trade with Tri-City
Larry joins Mississippi after spending the past two seasons with the ValleyCats.
Larry had been with the Tri-City ValleyCats since signing with the organization prior to the 2025 season.
The Bossier City, Louisiana, native is enjoying a career year as a professional with the ValleyCats. Through 60 games, the right-handed hitting utility infielder is batting .271 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs.
Larry was recently named Frontier League Player of the Week for Week 11, spanning July 14-19.
During the four-game stretch, Larry slashed .615/.667/1.384 with three home runs, two doubles and five RBIs.
Professional Career
The newest Mud Monster began his pro career in the Frontier League.
Prior to joining the ValleyCats, the newest Mud Monster began his professional career in 2024 with another Frontier League club, the Evansville Otters, appearing in 13 games.
That same season, Larry wrapped up his senior year at Mississippi State. Across two seasons with the Bulldogs in 2023 and 2024, Larry appeared in 116 games, making 115 starts while batting .271 with 15 home runs, 29 doubles, 63 RBIs and 30 stolen bases.
Road to Starkville
Larry’s college career included stops at East Central, New Orleans and Mississippi State.
Before his two seasons in Starkville, Mississippi, Larry began his collegiate career at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi, after graduating from Parkway High School in his hometown of Bossier City, Louisiana.
After two seasons with the Warriors, Larry transferred to the NCAA Division I level to continue his career at the University of New Orleans.
Larry enjoyed the best season of his collegiate career as a Privateer, batting .370 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs. His breakout campaign earned him 2022 First Team All-Southland Conference honors and Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year recognition.

Larry joins a Mud Monsters roster with another Mississippi connection.
Once again representing the Magnolia State, Larry joins the Mud Monsters as the final full month of the 2026 season gets underway, giving manager Jay Pecci another talented player with Mississippi ties.

Larry has already played on the field at Trustmark Park during his time with Mississippi State, including the Bulldogs’ 2023 midweek matchup against Southern Miss in Pearl.
